Update on BOI 01/04/2025

The BOI reporting requirements continue to change.

December 31, 2024: the Justice Department (DOJ) filed an emergency application with the Supreme Court asking it to stay the district court injunction that is preventing the government from enforcing the CTA and its requirements to report BOI while the case proceeds int he Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
January 3, 2025: Supreme Court Justice Alito set a deadline of 4 PM EST on January 10, 2025, for the plaintiffs in Texas Top Cop Shop to respond to the government's motion for a stay.

AICPA is still advising that those assisting clients with BOI report filings gather the required information from clients and be ready to file the BOI report if the injunction is lifted again. They also continue to advocate for a further delay/extension beyond January 13, 2025, with FinCEN.
